Saoirse was founded in 1997 and began as a Junior team but has also played at the Senior level for several years. Since inception, the team has won three Western Division (San Francisco Bay Area) championship titles and two North American titles. In 2004, the club decided to field two teams, Junior and Senior level. With great commitment from the players and the coaches, it was a very successful year. The Juniors played in the semi-finals at the North American championship games in Denver and the Seniors brought home the North American championship cup.
In 2004, Saoirse’s players were local and from Ireland. A few of the Irish players knew no one prior to their arrival, but left with many Bay Area friends. Between training 3 days a week, games on the weekends and other ‘extra curricular’ activities it was easy for friendships to grow.
